A main financial driver for the project was major tax breaks, provided move-in was before the end of 2007.The objective for the project was to connect people. One Nokia, with R&D, business units and production all together in one site.Key issues included remote location that required staff buy-in for the move to be successful.The result was a facility that balanced work/life issues by providing staff a range of amenities. Fitting 2,300 staff in one facility across six-floors that balanced their work and life. We were able to provide a range of amenities located around a central atrium called the Main Street that provided these amenities. Gold LEED-NC certification was achieved through the sustainable efforts made. R&D wing and Business Unit wing, accessed independently, integrated via the central atrium called the Main Street enabled better collaboration across departments .We conducted extensive interviews and workshops with staff to ensure buy-in, as the new facility is located in an area of Beijing with few amenities.
